Laurie Kersey - "Yucca in Bloom"

Yucca in Bloom by Laurie Kersey

Painting, Oil on Canvasboard, 11" x 14".

Oil painter Laurie Kersey's work includes plein air and studio landscapes, still lifes, and figures. Her strong sense of design and sensitive handling of light and shadow set her apart from many of her contemporaries. Subjects include the dramatic coastline and quiet countryside of California; elegant, traditional florals; figures in quiet moments; and horses in their natural setting.
Laurie received her early art education from the Chatauqua Institution in Chatauqua, NY, and the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, PA. After a fifteen-year career in commercial art, as an Art Director and Illustrator on the East Coast, she relocated to San Francisco and studied painting at the Academy of Art University. She has since taught in the Fine Art Department at the Academy, as well as conducting private workshops.
